Ramen Road #1: How to generate 20.6 million impression on Google in just 12 months

How tiny.host's founder built a rock-solid SEO strategy

Welcome noodle entrepreneurs! It’s our first Ramen Road issue packed with goodies. This week we're going to expand on Baretto's SEO strategies that helped tiny.host reach $20K+ MRR and 20.6 million impressions.

🥢 Slurp-worthy Strategy of the Week: Using SEO as a key growth pillar to over $20K in MRR.

Baretto managed to generate 20.6 million impressions on Google in just 12 months for tiny.host. Here's how he did it:

1. Solving the Cold Start Problem: Building Trust and Backlinks

When you're new, search engines don't trust you. To do so, you need to start getting backlinks from trusted websites. Here’s how you can do it:

a) Directory Listings

Directories exist thanks to product like yours since they generate traffic and are an authority. When starting out, it’s key to leverage their Domain Rating to get an easy, no-limit, backlink to your website. Google will trust your domain more and you can start getting ranked.

Action: List your startup on Crunchbase and IndieHackers. Launch on Product Hunt even if you aren’t ready to get the first spot.

b) Quora Answers

Quora is one of the top results in many Google searches. On top of getting your product in the eyeballs of users looking for a solution, having a backlink from one of the top domains is great for your domain’s ranking.

Action: Search for questions related to your product or expertise. Provide detailed, helpful answers and include a link to your product where relevant.

c) Guest Blogging

Blogging is time-consuming and giving writers valuable and effective content is a win-win for both. They get content and you get access to a new audience.

Action: Identify blogs in your industry that accept guest posts. Pitch them unique, valuable content ideas.

d) Open Source Contributions

This one is unusual, but it’s a great strategy! Look for open-source projects and contribute to their docs.

Action: Find open-source projects related to your field and contribute to their documentation.

2. Smart Keyword Research: Finding Your SEO Sweet Spot

With your DR improving, it’s time to focus on keywords. Baretto focused on keywords with low Keyword Difficulty (KD) and high Search Volume (SV). You only have so much time in a day and focusing your efforts on the best opportunities is key for growing effectively.

3. Consistent, Quality Content: Becoming the Go-To Resource

Content is king in SEO. Create regular, high-quality content tailored to your keywords. For each topic, analyze the top-ranking pages and create content that's more thorough, up-to-date, or better presented.

Baretto wrote 2x 800+ word blog posts per week and landing pages around my target keywords. This led to Google to start trusting his domain and led to one of the biggest growth-hacks for his success.

SEO is a long-term strategy. Stay on track by:

  • Creating a content calendar for your posts.

  • Regularly check your Google Search Console and analytics to see what's working.

As Baretto said, "SEO is like baking a cake that takes 6 months in the oven." Stay patient, consistent, and focused on providing value to your audience. The results will come!
